Welcome to MAGNOLIA, the Mississippi Alliance for Gaining New Opportunities Through Library Information Access.

MAGNOLIA provides Mississippi residents with access to electronic databases through their local public, school, community college, or university libraries.

MAGNOLIA is funded by the Mississippi Legislature and partially funded by the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) administered by the Mississippi Library Commission.

MAGNOLIA Update

July 9, 2015

The Mississippi Legislature has again provided $1 million in support of MAGNOLIA. It is great to have this continued funding, but it doesn't cover the entire cost of the databases MAGNOLIA provides. While many libraries throughout the state provide funds in support of the MAGNOLIA project, it is clear that we will be unable to raise enough funds to maintain subscriptions with all of our vendors (EBSCO, OCLC, and Credo Reference).

After reviewing the subscription costs and usage statistics of each database, the MAGNOLIA Steering Committee has made the difficult decision to discontinue its subscription to Credo Reference. This subscription will end on July 31, 2015, and will be removed from the MAGNOLIA website at that time.
